i ran with invader and unlocked challenger later on, set that as my primary archetype and that got me through everything on hardcore veteran. Definitely the engineer. You can't get it in HC if you don't start with it, and it is arguably one of the best archetypes in general. Ret isn't brought into dungeons for their damage, it's the buffs and utility. You can do whatever talents and either get an alt gear set for healing, or do whatever damage you do as ret and off heal, but groups will take you because Paladin buffs are incredible, they're always welcome to groups. Ret is fine in Hardcore.

WeaponSwingTimer. Specially useful for wand and bow users. It tells you basically when your next auto shoot is going to happen so you can move in between to get more distance. For slow 2H is also useful like for a paladin, so you can kite and move away while you can't swing.
